PETERBOROUGH, ON – Ricky’s All Day Grill, in partnership with the Peterborough Petes, have announced Petes’ rookie forward Matt Puempel as the Ricky’s All Day Grill Petes Player of the Week for the week ending February 8th , 2010. For his accomplishments, Matt receives a gift certificate for Ricky’s All Day Grill.Puempel, a native of Essex, ON, was named the Ontario Hockey League’s Rookie of the Month for the month of January as well as receiving the Academic Achievement award. His strong play this week proved the Ontario Hockey League’s decision as being correct. In just two games, Matt added five points to remain atop the league lead for Rookie Scoring. Puempel currently sits with twenty-two goals and seventeen assists for a one point lead on Oshawa Generals’ rookie Boone Jenner. He sits fourth on the maroon and white just one point behind veteran defenceman Jamie Doornbosch who has played in nine more games.
