PETERBOROUGH, ON - The Peterborough Petes got their Western road trip off on the right foot at the RBC Centre in Sarnia tonight as they doubled up on the host Sting by a score of 6-3.Both teams traded quality chances in the first frame as Sting power forward Kyle Neuber and Petes veteran forward Jack Walchessen both notched tallies to send the two teams to their respective dressing rooms tied 1-1.
The maroon and white took over from there as five unanswered goals powered them to a 6-1 lead before the Sting replied with two shorthanded goals to keep the game respectable. Scoring for the Petes in the final two frames was Mike Lomas, Matt Puempel, Liam Heelis, Pat Daley, and Jamie Doornbosch.
Goaltender Jason Missiaen picked up the win between the pipes for the Petes as he stopped 33 of the 36 shots he faced.
Next action for the Petes is tomorrow night when they travel to Windsor to take on the defending Ontario Hockey League Champion Spitfires.
