PETERBOROUGH, ON - The Peterborough Petes announced today that they have acquired veteran defenceman Brian Birkhoff from the Ottawa 67's in exchange for a 5th round draft pick in 2010.The Petes will insert Birkhoff immediately to the lineup as he has been brought in to replace Barron Smith who has an injury that will keep him out an estimated 6-8 weeks.
Birkhoff, a native of Richmond Hill, ON, will see an increased amount of ice-time when he debuts for the maroon and white as he was in a tough competition with the 67's who were deep on the blue line.
