PETERBOROUGH, ON - The city of Peterborough was well represented in the National Hockey League on Thursday night.
In Ottawa, ex-Pete Matt Carkner scored his first career NHL goal and Peterborough native Mike Fisher scored the game winning goal to help the Senators past the visiting New York Islanders 3-2.
Former Pete Jordan Staal scored his first goal of the season on his way to helping the Penguins edge the Philadelphia Flyers 5-4, and ex-Pete Jason Williams added an assist in Detroit's 3-2 decision over the Chicago Blackhawks.
In tonight's NHL action, Eric Staal and Cory Stillman go head-to-head as the Florida Panthers visit the Carolina Hurricanes.
