PETERBOROUGH, ON - Ricky's All Day Grill, in partnership with the Peterborough Petes, have announced Petes' rookie forward Matt Puempel as the Ricky's All Day Grill Petes Player of the Week for the week ending October 26th, 2009. For his accomplishments, Matt receives a gift certificate for Ricky's All Day Grill.
Puempel, a native of Essex, ON, made a very successful return from a concussion, scoring two goals to go with his one assist in two games this past weekend. Matt's two goals on Thursday night against the visiting Saginaw Spirit was enough to earn him first star honours of the game. A rookie in the Ontario Hockey League, he has been moved up to the Petes' second line, alongside sophomore forward Ryan Spooner and overage forward Pat Daley, as a reward for his strong play thus far.
