PETERBOROUGH, ON - The Niagara Ice Dogs avenged their Thursday night loss to the Peterborough Petes tonight as they came from behind to take a 4-3 decision in St. Catherines. The Dogs got out to a running start as they scored just 46 seconds into the game to jump out to an early 1-0 lead. However, three straight Peterborough goals gave the Petes the lead after the second period. Matt Puempel scored on the power play 5:38 into the first frame to draw the two teams back even and then goals by Ryan Spooner and Jack Walchessen just two minutes apart in the second period led them to the 3-1 lead.
The Petes could not hang on to their two goal lead in the third period as Niagara's Andrew Shaw and Andrew Agozzino scored twenty-seven seconds apart to get the game back to a 3-3 tie. The Dogs would then capture the 4-3 lead that would eventually be the final as Marco Insam put a blast past Jason Missiaen midway through the final frame.
Next action for the Petes is Thursday night when they host the Plymouth Whalers at the Peterborough Memorial Centre.
