PETERBOROUGH, ON – Ricky’s All Day Grill, in partnership with the Peterborough Petes, have announced Petes’ rookie forward Matt Puempel as the Ricky’s All Day Grill Petes Player of the Week for the week ending December 14th , 2009. For his accomplishments, Matt receives a gift certificate for Ricky’s All Day Grill.Puempel, a native of Essex, ON, continues to climb up the scoring charts for both the Ontario Hockey League and the Petes in his rookie season. Drafted in the first round by the maroon and white, Matt had a lot of eyes on him entering this season as all of the fans expected big things from him. His play has not disappointed. In three games this past weekend, Puempel scored two goals and three assists including his 15th of the season. Matt currently sits with a combined twenty-six points which leaves him fourth on the team just five points behind defenceman Jamie Doornbosch. In addition to his five points, the Petes rookie continued his strong defensive efforts by putting up a + 1 rating.
