PETERBOROUGH, ON - The Peterborough Petes were connected tonight as the "Internet Line" consisting of Joey West, Jack Walchessen, and Jamie Wise scored two goals and played solid defensive hockey to power the Petes to a 3-1 lead over the visiting Plymouth Whalers.
The game started with an amazing pace as Walchessen capitalized on a nifty pass from line mate Joey West to give the Petes the 1-0 lead. Just fifty-six seconds later, sophomore forward Ryan Spooner let a heavy slap shot go from just inside of the blue line that found the back of the net for the 2-0 lead.
After the Whalers had cut the lead to 2-1 and the two teams had played a scoreless second period, it was Walchessen who got right back on the score sheet as he threw a shot into a crowd that bounced off a Whalers' defenceman and into the Plymouth net for the 3-1 lead which would end up being the final.
Next action for the Petes is tomorrow night when they travel to Ottawa to take on the 67's in the first of a home-and-home series.
